Amazing! You Can Help Us Build a Tiny Forest at Snipes Farm!

What is a Tiny Forest you ask?

It is a small, dense, and fast-growing woodland of native trees and shrubs that is designed to mimic a natural forest in a small space. To the best of our knowledge, it is only the second one to be built in BucksCounty. And we are building it right in our parking lot!

Why are Tiny Forests important? They can provide homes for wildlife like birds, bees, butterflies, and small mammals, and they can also help with environmental issues like climate change, flooding, and loss of wildlife. They can be a place for people to connect with nature and learn about it. They check all the right boxes: Biodiversity, carbon sequestration, air quality, storm water management, soil health, and emotional well-being.

Volunteer to help us plant our forest! For safety's sake, volunteers must be age 12 or over.  We will be planting our forest on Friday, November 1 and Saturday, November 2 from 8 am to 5 pm, 2 shifts per day. You will be fed, of course! We need an army of volunteers to help us plant 2000 trees in less than 10,000 square feet of what was once part of an asphalt parking area. Please register below so we know how many volunteers to expect.

Donate Equipment to help us water our Tiny Forest! A tiny forest typically becomes self-sustaining in 3 years. But in the meantime, we will have to water it and remove invasive plants. The invasive plants can wait until spring, but we will have to start watering right away. Our watering system of sump pumps and soaker hoses is estimated to cost about $1200 over 3 years. The easiest way to help us build this system is through our GoFundMe fundraiser. But if you have extra soaker hoses, we could use those, too! We would also appreciate if you could let other people and organizations know about this fundraiser!
