Snipes Farm & Education Center (SFEC) seeks a full-time Farm Apprentice for the 2024 season. She/he/they will work in all areas of certified organic production alongside the Field Manager and Director of Farming. The season runs April through November; typical Monday-Friday schedule is: April & May, 8 AM-4 PM; June-August, 6:30 AM-2:30 PM; September-November, 7 AM-3 PM
Duties include (but are not limited to):
- Seeding/Transplanting
- Greenhouse/Tunnel Work
- Weeding/Cultivation
- Pest, Disease, & Irrigation Practices
- Harvesting & Packing
Qualifications:
- Positive, reflective, & constructive attitude
- Prior experience in farming, gardening, or food service (A full season of farming experience is preferred.)
- Ability to routinely lift and maneuver 50-lb. crates of vegetables
- Attentiveness to details, efficiency, and safety
- Reliability (showing up on time, every day)
- Capable of working pleasantly in all weather conditions
- Interest in SFEC’s food access work and overall mission
- Willingness to learn from new challenges
- Ability to work on a team and solo
