Winter Cooking at Snipes Farm: Sweet & Savory Grains!
Explore new dimensions of quinoa and oats for breakfast and dinner!
Join us for a sweet and savory grains adventure at the farmhouse kitchen at Snipes Farm with accomplished and passionate amateur chef, Susan Vigilante. Quinoa is packed with protein and the unassuming oat is an amazing source of micronutrients and terrific for heart health. At this fun, hands-on class students will taste Morning Glory baked oats, and prepare a delightful oats base for a dinner entrée that can be used in lieu of grits. We will also prepare scrumptious quinoa pancakes and quinoa sweet potato chili with farm fresh veggies.
Weather permitting there will be a brief farm tour to see the beautiful greens growing in hoop houses and to Cluckingham Palace, home to 130 healthy happy chickens! There will be time afterwards to peruse fresh veggies, eggs, local honey and more at the Snipes Farm Market at the Big Red Barn.
More about Susan: Susan has spent the last 40 years lending a hand prepping meals and desserts and developing dynamic menus at her family’s restaurant, The Market Roost Eatery and Catering in Flemington, NJ. She is excited to share her wisdom and love of cooking with all who come.
