Nutrition Education
Food is medicine. When we teach cooking to students, we open up a world of healthy eating and a connection to their food.
We teach students to be “food detectives”, finding out what is in their food, where it comes from, and what they can do with it in their own kitchens!

Eating with the seasons
Using foods grown locally, students learn seasonally appropriate dishes and make their own sample in the classroom.
Hands-on and interactive, these lessons fuel students’ curiosity about where their food comes from.
Favorite lessons include:
– Seed to Snack: Exploring seeds and all of their benefits
– Eggcellent Eggs: Accessible sources of protein
– Rainbow Salad: Colors as indicators of nutrients
“All children should have the basic nutrition they need to learn and grow and to pursue their dreams, because, in the end, nothing is more important than the health and well-being of our children.”
-Michelle Obama
“One cannot think well, love well, or sleep well, if one has not dined well.”
-Virginia Woolf
“We are educating the future stewards of our planet… Knowing how food grows and that it comes from the soil will help them to understand the importance of healthy soil, clean water, and air.”
